The Justice Department has filed a federal lawsuit against Ferguson,
Missouri, after the city rejected a deal that would have brought sweeping
changes to its embattled police department, which allegedly engaged in
"racially discriminatory policing."

The lawsuit, announced Wednesday by Attorney General Loretta Lynch, alleges
a pattern or practice of law enforcement conduct that violates the First,
Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments, as well as federal civil rights laws and
says the citizens there "have waited decades for justice."

"The residents of Ferguson have waited nearly a year for their city to adopt
an agreement that would protect their rights and keep them safe," Lynch
said. "They have waited nearly a year for their police department to accept
rules that would ensure their constitutional rights ... They have waited
decades for justice. They should not be forced to wait any longer."

Ferguson came under the national spotlight after a city police officer
fatally shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown in August 2014. Officer Darren
Wilson was never charged in the shooting, but a Justice Department
investigation into the Ferguson police department found what Lynch called
"systemic and systematic" racial bias within the force's policing practices.

After the results of that investigation were announced last year, the
Justice Department began "painstaking negotiations" lasting 26 weeks,
seeking to reach a deal that would address the Justice Department's
findings, according to Lynch. An agreement was reached weeks ago, but last
night the Ferguson City Council "rejected" the deal "approved by their own
negotiators," said Lynch, calling the move "extremely unfortunate" and
"profoundly disappointing".

Well, hopefully that will help with the racial bias problem, but
that's not going to help black parents when their children get
killed by black thugs.

Michael Brown WAS a black thug, as shown by the video

"Look here, not there"!
I say once again, Village Idiot, inasmuch as you clearly have not read my
actual words:
"Allow me to make the objective, honest to goodness, rock bottom true

And if you - Village Idiot - by posting your comments here are in any
suggesting/implying/intimidating that my actual words are not the objective,
honest to goodness, rock bottom truth concerning who killed Michael Brown,
then please by all means cite to us links/references/sources that establish
that my actual words are indeed not the objective, honest to goodness, rock
bottom truth concerning who killed Michael Brown.

Bet you can't do that at all, Village Idiot.
Bet you instead will entertain us with your performance #85 ( !! ) of your
much repeated Intellectual Coward ploy as you run yet again for that hole of
yours under your rock.

Yes, it's true that he was killed by a police officer and not a
black thug, but using it as an argument in this case is a logical
fallacy called the Exception fallacy which is described as follows:

"Exception fallacy

Description
The exception fallacy occurs when data about an individual is used
to draw conclusions about a group of people.

Example
A first class passenger on a train is arrogant and rude to a person
who walks into the first class compartment. The person concludes
that all first class passengers are arrogant.

A person in France is helped by a policeman there. They assume all
French police are helpful.

A teacher finds that a few students from a particular part of town
are difficult. They conclude that that part of town is rough.

Discussion
We are always in a hurry to classify people and groups and, when we
have limited data about a group, we will often use what information
we have, even if it is not statistically valid -- and even if it is
a single data point.

This data may well be the exception rather than the rule - hence the
name of the fallacy.

This effect is particularly common when several factors are taken

Well, Plan A didn't work at all.
Here comes Plan B!
https://gma.yahoo.com/department-justice-expected-announce-suit-against-ferguson-sources-222738655--abc-news-topstories.html

Allow me to make the objective, honest to goodness, rock bottom true
observation that Michael Brown was not killed by a black thug.
That's called the exception fallacy.

That's the bare boned, honest to goodness, no doubt about it, solid 24 karat
truth.
If you disagree, substantiate your disagreement with my statement that
Michael Brown was not - repeat, not - killed by a black thug.
I will anxiously await your substantiation.
I don't understand why you think that I should feel compelled to
reply to a logical fallacy.

This effect is particularly common when several factors are taken
into account:

*A person is encountered who does not fit into current categories,
for example where there is a dominant attribute for which there is
no stereotype available.

*Other attributes are available and can be evaluated.

*Other people who have similar dominant attributes are not available
to determine whether additional attributes correlate. Thus the
evaluation cannot be disconfirmed.

This fallacy is an effective reversal of the Ecological fallacy.

no ifs, buts, or maybe truth.
Note well my initial words here:
"Allow me to make the objective, honest to goodness, rock bottom true
observation that Michael Brown was not killed by a black thug."

And my other posts in this particular thread are consistent with and
supportive of those original words.

Well, Plan A didn't work at all.
Here comes Plan B!
https://gma.yahoo.com/department-justice-expected-announce-suit-against-ferguson-sources-222738655--abc-news-topstories.html

That's the bare boned, honest to goodness, no doubt about it, solid 24 karat

[chuckle] Have you really taking "Look here, not there" lessons from the

Yet once again -

Yes, it's true that he was killed by a police officer and not a
black thug, but using it as an argument in this case is a logical
*A person is encountered who does not fit into current categories,
for example where there is a dominant attribute for which there is
no stereotype available.
*Other attributes are available and can be evaluated.
*Other people who have similar dominant attributes are not available
to determine whether additional attributes correlate. Thus the
evaluation cannot be disconfirmed.
This fallacy is an effective reversal of the Ecological fallacy.

ah yes...the Village Idiot - being, of course, the Village Idiot that he

My statement (not question) to which "mg" responded is:

Now how, folks, is that statement of mine in any way, shape, or form a
question such that the Village Idiot says "All of us are commanded to reply
to stupid ass questions of this joker [clearly meaning me] and JQPublic"?
Where o where - Great and All knowing Village Idiot - is the question in my
words in my statement to which "mg" is answering as per your post?

Yes indeed, folks, the Village Idiot rides yet AGAIN!

And yet once more today we surely will be entertained by the Village Idiot
with this time around his performance #94 of his thrilling and most
impressive Intellectual Coward ploy as he makes his way over there to stage
left, tail between his legs, to pause briefly before running away stage
right yet again back into his hole under that rock of his.

Yes, those on the left only want to address the police problem, and
I agree that should be addressed whenever it occurs. However, the
number of blacks killed unjustifiably by the police would obviously
only be a small part of the problem. Then too, in the case of
Michael Brown, there was no credible evidence that the shooting
wasn't justified.

investigation into the Ferguson police department found what Lynch called

Allow me to make the objective, honest to goodness, rock bottom true
observation that Michael Brown was not killed by a black thug.
That's called the exception fallacy.

"According to the US Department of Justice, blacks accounted for 52.5%
of homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008, with whites 45.3% and "Other"
2.2%. The offending rate for blacks was almost 8 times higher than
whites, and the victim rate 6 times higher. Most homicides were
intraracial, with 84% of white victims killed by whites, and 93% of
black victims killed by blacks."

Completely justified. The cop was the victim. He had no choice, did
what he had to do, and lost his job and career.
My impression, since the Michael Brown, incident is that police
officers should be required to engage in hand-to-hand combat with
criminals, and suspected criminals, if they attack them and they
don't have a weapon in their hand. That kind of logic is so totally
twisted that there's obviously no point in trying to talk them out
of believing in it.
